Today I woke up at approximately 7:12am to take a shower. It only took me like 17 minutes to actually get out of bed, but after that, I went down to breakfast. Next we went to the morning worship service and listened to a guest speaker whose voice almost put me to sleep. It was soft and quiet and the room was a little warm and my eyes glazed over and over until we transitioned to the workshop of our choice. I sat in on “9/11 in the Academic Community” which essentially discusses the fact that so many 9/11 facts are hidden, twisted, or simply not talked about, and why it’s so important to talk about these facts. The documentary I watched on this topic made me even MORE tired, probably because I was in a dark room. Free time started after lunch at about 1 o’clock and I finally got to FaceTime my mom. Now I’m sitting in the living room of our townhouse with a bunch of super cool people and listening to their stories. I’ve had a lot of time to think about the people I’ve met over these few short days. Some people were quiet, some were outspoken, and a lot of them were gay. Yep. Gay people at a church camp. Who knew? 😉
